The Car Won't Start...

Last week Mom called me and said her car wouldn't start. The car is not quite 5 yrs old yet. Ok, I'll come by with the hot shot and jump start the car. I get to the house and try to jump start the car... not happening. I tried to jump it from my car, not happening either. Ma, call Triple A...

The guy comes and determines it is not the battery. He pumps the pedal, turns the key nothing. Opens the gas tank, does the pedal and key again... nothing. "Ma'am (love it when they call me that,NOT!) we should be smelling gasoline by now and we aren't." Hmmm, you have a point... full tank of gas too... So I asked him, "do you think perhaps she accidently hit the ignition kill switch getting in/out of the car?" To which he said "that could be..." So he looks in the trunk and under the dash board... can't find the switch. Ma! Call Triple A again! Ya need a tow!

Seriously, 10 minutes later the SAME GUY comes back with a tow truck and takes the car down the road to my friend's shop. I drive with mom to the shop and as I explain what happen to the mechanic what happened, my son walks in and says "Gram says to use these keys." Huh? What do you mean... As I walk to the car with two sets of keys in my hand, my mind is racing... I put the key in the ignition and guess what? THE CAR STARTED!!!! I didn't know if I wanted to be elated it started (like I had the LUCKY KEY) or if I wanted to choke the woman...

Mom had found a set of keys that no longer worked because she had lost them and needed a new set made.... so for some unknown reason, mom put those old set (that no longer turns the car on) in her purse and was TRYING TO START THE CAR WITH THE OLD SET!!! Yea... after 2 hours of trying to get the damn car to start, all she needed was the correct key!

Remind me to tell you about that moment in time with mom and the new "spare" key.... lol oh boy
